Week 17
Drayton A continue to lead the way in Division 1 of the Didcot and District Table Tennis Association but Didcot A have now closed in on the top two. An emphatic 8-2 win over Moreton A thanks to Greg Donovans treble moved them up into serious title contention. A Chris Lansley maximum helped RAL A move into fourth spot with a 6-4 win over RAL B. At the bottom of the table, Glen Freeman hit three wins to help Drayton B secure of 5-5 draw with Letcombe A and Abingdon B eased past Abingdon A by 6-4 to record their first win of the season.
RAL C have taken over at the top of Division 2 thanks to a 9-1 thrashing of Upton A and a 7-3 win over Drayton C with Bill Mason registering six wins. Drayton D remain in third place despite coming away from Sutton B with a 5-5 draw and a strong Howbery B performance helped them to an 8-2 win over Sutton A with both John Talbot and Markus Wagner hitting trebles.
Abingdon E retained their firm hold on Division 3 despite Drayton E closing the gap with a 9-1 win over Didcot E. RAL D also moved into promotion contention with a 10-0 thrashing of Sutton C. Charlie Lane kept up his impressive form this season with another treble for Moreton in their 7-3 win over Abingdon D. At the other end of the table, RAL E remain in the bottom two after going down 6-4 to a Colin Cherrill inspired Letcombe B.
Wallingford and Letcombe C continue to battle it out for the title in Division 4 with both teams having almost secured promotion. A 6-4 win for Wallingford over Abingdon G has helped them open up a slender lead as Letcombe C were held to a 5-5 draw by Moreton D thanks to a treble from Bob Price. Abingdon G then recorded a 6-4 win of their own over Grove courtesy of three wins from Aubrey Hughes. Abingdon H also had a memorable week as they hit Drayton F with an impressive 8-2 win.
RAL G have extended their lead at the top of Division 5 with a 9-1 win over Drayton G as Moreton E moved closer to promotion with an 8-2 victory, also over Drayton G.
