Week 7

Drayton A have held on to top spot in Division 1 of the Didcot and District Table Tennis Association despite being held to a 5-5 draw by Didcot C. A Steve Dobbins treble for the Didcot side helped to frustrate the leaders and allow Didcot B to close the gap and move into second place after their 9-1 win over Drayton B. Didcot A also moved into contention with two 9-1 wins of their own. The first, over Abingdon B, contained maximums for Greg Donovan and Nigel Taylor and the second, against Moreton A, saw Donovan repeat the feat with Ray Powell also hitting three wins. Moreton A saw their week improve as they came away from RAL B with a 6-4 win thanks to Nick Pattmans hat trick and RAL B then put paid to RAL A with an 8-2 victory including three wins for Tony Stead.

Howbery A have regained the lead in Division 2 despite an 8-2 hammering at the hands of Didcot D with James Lovelock inflicting maximum damage. Meanwhile, Drayton C recorded a 6-4 win over Howbery B in a tight match decided in the fifth set of the final game and Moreton B shared the spoils with Upton A in a 5-5 draw featuring a treble from Uptons Stuart Walker.

Sutton C have moved clear in Division 3 after easing past Drayton E with a 6-4 win. Alastair Nicholson recorded three more wins for his Sutton side and moved to the top of the individual rankings. Drayton E are now their closest challengers following an 8-2 win over Didcot E in which Shaun Collins and Kevin Davies both hit trebles. Letcombe B had a mixed week as a 5-5 draw with RAL D was followed up by and 8-2 win over Abingdon F with Tom Saunders hitting 6 wins in the week. Abingdon D went one better as a Mark Ghafor hit a maximum in a 6-4 win over Didcot F was closely followed by a 9-1 victory over Didcot E as a John Tremayne treble was added to yet another Ghafoor maximum.

In Division 4, Wallingford continue to set the pace as an 8-2 win over Abingdon H kept up their unbeaten record and saw David and Tony Quin hit three more wins apiece. Moreton D dispatched Sutton D with ease as they recorded a 9-1 win thanks to trebles from Paul Rushton and Andy Benning, whilst Letcombe D played out a 5-5 draw with Abingdon G with Roger Diamand coming away unbeaten.

RAL G continue to lead the way but are now being pushed hard by Upton B who overcame the leaders in a 6-4 win with Richard Brown hitting a maximum. Drayton G hit their first win of the season as they overcame Moreton F by 8-2 with both Ryan Seamark and Maha Ramanthan hitting a hat trick.
